In the current study Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (MAQ) built by Dr. Pramod Kumar and Dr. Kanchana Rohatgi was utilized. The questionnaire comprises 25 profoundly separating ‘Yes – No’ type items. A ‘yes’ response is assigned a score of 1 apart from items 4, 10 and 19 during which case reverse is applicable. This tool is meant for married couples with an age range from 28-60 years. The reliability of the test was determined by the split half method by applying the Spearman-Brown formula and by the test-retest technique which was found .70 and .84. The test was found valid by comparing with Singh’s Marital Adjustment Inventory.

Recent Global Research Developments in Exploring Marital Adjustment Dimensions in Single-Working and Dual-Working Couples
Marital Adjustment is a multidimensional indicator of the quality of a marital relationship. It reflects how well partners adapt to each other’s needs, communicate, and maintain satisfaction within their marriage. Here are some insights from recent research:
Study Overview:
- The study you mentioned [1] aimed to examine the gender differences in marital adjustment and subjective well-being among single and dual earner couples aged between 25 and 45 years.
- The sample included:
- Working couples (100; male = 50, female = 50)
- Single earner couples (100; working male = 50, non-working female = 50)
Marital Adjustment Scores:
- Findings demonstrated that single working couples tend to have better marital adjustment than dual working couples.
- The Marital Adjustment Questionnaire (MAQ), constructed and standardized by Dr. Pramod Kumar and Dr. Kanchana Rohatgi, was used to measure marital adjustment levels.
Gender Differences:
- Gender plays a significant role:
- Well-adjusted couples experience higher quality of life, leading to satisfaction, happiness, and peace of mind in their relationship.
- Conflict between individual needs and environmental demands can impact marital adjustment.
Definition of Marital Adjustment:
Sinha and Mukerjee (1990) defined marital adjustment as the overall feeling of happiness and satisfaction between spouses regarding their marriage and each
