An in-depth assessment of various 3D and 4D bioprinting methods and biomaterials used for bone regeneration purposes

Biomaterials and tissue engineering are research fields that rely heavily on material science, medicine, and chemistry. The production of biomaterials for drug delivery, tissue engineering, and medical diagnostics is rooted in chemistry. Additionally, materials’ physical and chemical properties can help maintain biological responses. In this article, we discuss the history and types of biomaterials used in bone tissue engineering. We also explore various polymers that are attractive biomaterials for biomedical applications. Furthermore, we delve into 3D Printing as a technology and its entire bioprinting process. We also briefly discuss upcoming biomaterials that can be used for 3D bioprinting and their conditions. Finally, we mention future perspectives on biomaterials, 3D and 4D bio-printing.
